April 8, 2024

CITIUS MAG and Brooks Running are partnering to produce “Beasts: Unleashed” – an all-access, behind-the-scenes web series of the Brooks Beasts Track Club’s journey during the 2024 season – one of their biggest years yet.

Here’s what you need to know:

After a banner year that featured six athletes qualifying for World Championships, four national titles and one World Championship gold medal, the Beasts are prepared to make a bigger statement on the global stage in 2024.

“At Brooks, we understand the power of the run and the energy it inspires when the gun goes off. By offering an inside glimpse into the Beasts’ season and preparations for this summer, we're hoping to inspire others to pursue their own goals with passion and commitment,” Brooks senior sports marketing manager Garrett Heath says. “It's about authenticity, inspiration, and empowering our community to strive for greatness alongside our athletes.”

CITIUS MAG has been on-site with the team in Seattle, San Diego, New York and Albuquerque over the past five months to be present for some of the team’s early preparations and key races. The series will be published and promoted on CITIUS MAG’s social channels including: YouTube, Instagram, X, TikTok and CITIUSMAG.com.

"We’re thrilled Brooks has entrusted CITIUS MAG to spotlight the personalities and performances of some of the best middle distance runners in the world"

CITIUS MAG founder Chris Chavez says. “We’re excited to peel back the curtain and spotlight how the likes of Josh Kerr, Nia Akins and others prepare mentally and physically for the intense nature of the Olympic year.”

The first episode will drop on April 11.

Here’s what the athletes and coaches have to say:

Head coach Danny Mackey: “I have the privilege of witnessing the incredible dedication of the Beasts every day. What the spectators see on race day is just the tip of the spear. Behind every stride is a story of relentless effort, perseverance, and teamwork. This video series offers an inside look into our training regimen, showcasing the physical, emotional and mental demands placed on our athletes that also emphasizes the bond and camaraderie that drives them forward. The series shows how success on our team is about more than just winning races; it's about the journey of self-discovery, growth, and resilience and sticking to this path. This peek behind the curtain instills a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices and triumphs that shape their path to greatness.”

1500m world champion Josh Kerr: “The Beasts are constantly pushing limits and striving for progress on and off the track, brick by brick, this mountain of work is shown to the world in under a couple of minutes. Sometimes this doesn’t tell the whole story. Our fans don’t often see the countless hours of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice that go into preparing for each race. Offering a behind-the-scenes look at our season will give viewers a deeper understanding of what it takes to succeed at this level.”

2023 U.S. indoor and outdoor 800m champion, world championship finalist Nia Akins: “Something all the beasts understand is that the difference between 1st and 2nd, or 3rd and 4th can be a millisecond. So when we train, we’re training for that 0.01% difference that gives us an edge. So all the little things matter—sleep, nutrition, recovery. And the little things are just important today as they were in the fall, and as they will be when we toe the line in June for the Trials. So we’ve been grinding for a long time, and we have a lot of fun together along the way!”
