LeBron James opens as betting favorite for mile vs. Gladwell

If you’ve been following us on Twitter this week then you’ve certainly seen the hypothetical race that’s been thrown out there: Malcolm Gladwell vs. LeBron James in a one-mile race.

BOVADA, an online betting site, has created a prop bet on the imaginary race. It is lated as the “Track & Field Special – Who will win the 1-Mile Race | King James vs. Gladwell.” When the odds were created on Friday afternoon, James opened as the favorite at -150. This means that if you bet $100 on James to win the race, you would win $66.67. Gladwell was listed as +110, which means that if you bet $100 on Gladwell and he won the race, you would win $110.

BOVADA does list that “Both must participate for action. Race must occur in 2017 for wages to have action.”

There’s a strong chance that this doesn’t happen, – at least not this year but the idea is out there. The Cavaliers open preseason on Oct. 4. If a charity amount is set and fundraised pretty quickly, who knows if this could possibly take place in the next three four weeks. It’s one mile. Gladwell has said all LeBron has to do is name the time and place and he’ll be there.
