For the next eight days on the site, we will be celebrating one of the most historic and iconic races in American distance running – The Boston Marathon.

The Boston Marathon celebrates its 121st running on Monday, April 17 and we will be on site to provide live coverage and updates from Boston starting on Friday.

Last year’s champions Atsede Baysa and Lemi Berhanu Hayle return to defend their titles. But as is always the case with the John Hancock elite athlete program, the elite men’s and women’s fields are deep. 2015 women’s champion Caroline Rotich of Kenya, 2014 women’s champion Buzunesh Deba of Ethiopia, 2014 men’s champion Meb Keflezighi of the United States and 2012 men’s champion Wesley Korir of Kenya are also in the field. We’ll take a more in-depth look at the race later this week.

We will also examine some of the great history behind the marathon and the legendary figures who have run from Hopkinton to Boylston Street.
