CITIUS MAG will have boots on the ground in Atlanta for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials and we’re inviting you to join us!
We’re happy to announce that we’ve partnered with Brooks and will be working with them on a few events including a live recording of The CITIUS MAG Podcast with Chris Chavez. Here’s what we have planned…
ALL WEEKEND
Talking With Qualifiers
Brooks has the Hyperion House for the 2020 trials at Switchyards in downtown Atlanta. They will be selling a limited amount of Hyperion Elite and Hyperion Tempo shoes along with our elite-athlete race kits and limited-edition Marathon Trials gear.
There’s a bunch of live events and shows but Chris Chavez and Ryan Welsh will be recording episodes and posting them the day of from the Hyperion House. Here’s the concept…
Brooks athletes will be walking in to pick up some swag bags and last-minute essentials before the race and this is our chance to meet a lot of these “Hometown Heroes.”
Here’s what happens next: We will have two open microphones set up at a table to chat with these Olympic Trials qualifiers to learn who they are, how they qualified for the race and what it means to them. These are everyday people who run extraordinary times. Who knows who will be walking by!
As we’re chatting with them, Luke McCambley (also known as The Orange Runner on Instagram) will be drawing a portrait of them.
Don’t miss these chats when they go live on the CITIUS MAG Podcast feed. Subscribe!
FRIDAY, FEB. 28
LIVE PODCAST
November Project’s Atlanta chapter will be hosting a little shakeout run at 7:30 a.m. We will follow it up with a live recording alongside Keith and Kevin Hanson about their influential work with elite U.S. distance runners and their team over the past 20 years. The two brothers founded, financed and coached the team since 1999 when they decided to try and solve what was wrong with American distance running. They own running stores in Michigan, have published training books on their philosophy and elevated Brooks athletes to the next level. Hear how it’s all come together.
The event is open to the public. The more, the merrier!
9 a.m. on Friday (Feb. 28) at Switchyards in downtown Atlanta
America’s Marathon Weekend Experience
Held from February 27 to March 1, America’s Marathon Weekend Experience is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for fans and spectators to engage with the athletes competing in the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. Chris Chavez will be hosting a panel at 11:15 a.m. titled “Meet the 9-5ers.” We’ll talk with Matt McDonald, Alyssa Bloomquist, Ann Mazur and Duriel Hardy about how they have found ways to run fast while being full time workers and students.
11 a.m. on Friday (Feb. 28) at Georgia World Congress Center, Hall A3
SATURDAY, FEB. 29
Watch Live on the Course
The Brooks Hyperion House also invites you to join in cheering on the athletes vying for Tokyo 2020. Live television coverage will be playing and the space is just steps away from the course where you’ll be able to pop out and watch your friends and fan favorites run by.
Afterparty!
We will be heading to an afterparty hosted by Tracksmith at Georgia Beer Garden (420 Edgewood Avenue Southeast Atlanta, GA 30312) More details to come soon.
We’re planning on busting open the microphones and debriefing with some of the race participants in what could be the loudest and rowdiest episode of the CITIUS MAG Podcast. We’ll buy a beer for those who sit down and tell us how their race went.
