All sports are better with gambling — that’s a scientific fact. Although Vegas took wagers on the Olympics last summer, the same can’t be said for the much lower profile World Championships.

But the Irish betting site Paddy Power does have a comprehensive list of odds you can wager on. Even if you’re not in a country and allows for legal sports wagering, take a took and tweet at us @CitiusMag to let us know which bets you like.

Women’s 100 meters

(Given Thompson’s Achilles injury, 7/1 for Bowie aren’t bad odds at all. I’d put down a few dollars on her.)

Elaine Thompson (JAM) 1/7
Tori Bowie (USA) 7/1
Dafne Schippers (NED) 10/1
Marie-Josée Ta Lou (CIV) 25/1
Deajah Stevens (USA) 50/1
Ariana Washington (USA) 66/1

Men’s 100 meters

(De Grasse’s withdrawal makes Bolt being upset much less unlikely. Not seeing anything here worth betting on.)

Usain Bolt (JAM) 1/2
Andre De Grasse (CAN) 6/1 (withdrew due to injury)
Justin Gatlin (USA) 6/1
Yohan Blake (JAM) 6/1
Christian Coleman (USA) 9/1

Women’s 200 meters

(Schippers is just the sixth-fastest woman in the world this year, so I’m not totally sure why she’s the favorite here.)

Dafne Schippers (NED) 8/13
Tori Bowie (USA) 23/10
Shaunae Miller-Uibo (BAH) 4/1
Marie-Josée Ta Lou (CIV) 12/1
Crystal Emmanuel (CAN) 20/1
Deajah Stevens (USA) 25/1

Men’s 200 meters

(Basically the same thing I said about the men’s 100 meters, except replace Bolt with Van Niekerk.)

Wayde Van Niekerk (RSA) 8/11
Andre De Grasse (CAN) 9/4 (withdrew due to injury)
Isaac Makwala (BOT) 4/1
Yohan Blake (JAM) 4/1
Christian Coleman (USA) 10/1
Ameer Webb (USA) 33/1

Women’s 400 meters

(Miller-Uibo and Felix are basically a toss-up. I think the odds-makers got it right by giving Miller-Ubo a slight edge.)

Shaunae Miller-Uibo (BAH) 10/11
Allyson Felix (USA) 6/5
Phyllis Francis (USA) 14/1
Quanera Hayes (USA) 14/1
Shericka Jackson (JAM) 14/1

Men’s 400 meters

(Seems about right. On a separate note, I owe Justin Britton a burrito if Kerley beats van Niekerk. Spoiler: it ain’t happening.)

Wayde van Niekerk (RSA) 1/12
Isaac Makwala (BOT) 7/1
Fred Kerley (USA) 7/1
LaShawn Merritt (USA) 10/1
Baboloki Thebe (BOT) 25/1

Women’s 800 meters

(Semenya proved to be vulnerable in Monaco. She’ll have the 1500m in her legs before the 800m, so a smart better would lay some cash on Niyonsaba and/or Wilson.)

Caster Semenya (RSA) 1/6
Francine Niyonsaba (BDI) 8/1
Ajee Wilson (USA) 12/1
Margaret Nyairera Wambui (KEN) 14/1
Eunice Jepkoech Sum (KEN) 33/1
Melissa Bishop (CAN) 40/1
Charlene Lipsey (USA) 50/1
Brenda Martinez (USA) 100/1

Men’s 800 meters

(Toss-up between Amos and Korir. Hard to make a call so this should be a fun one to watch (and stay away from laying money on).)

Nijel Amos (BOT) 5/6
Emmanuel Korir (KEN) 5/4
Kipyegon Bett (KEN) 7/1
Ferguson Rotich (KEN) 16/1
Donavan Brazier (USA) 25/1
Mohammed Aman (ETH) 33/1

Women’s 1500 meters

(I know Hassan has run super fast this year, but I wouldn’t count out Kipyegon, the Olympic champ. Jenny Simpson, by the way, is 100/1, which is totally nuts.)

Sifan Hassan (NED) 5/4
Genzebe Dibaba (ETH) 2/1
Faith Kipyegon (KEN) 2/1
Caster Semenya (RSA) 7/1
Laura Muir (GBR) 17/2

Men’s 1500 meters

(This is a hard one to call with the top three Kenyans not named Kiprop relatively inexperienced in championship settings. Stay away.)

Elijah Manangoi (KEN) 6/4
Asbel Kiprop (KEN) 7/2
Timothy Cheruiyot (KEN) 7/2
Ronald Kwemoi (KEN) 5/1
Matt Centrowitz (USA) 14/1
Aman Wote (ETH) 16/1

Women’s 5000 meters

(Not getting good enough odds for a non-Obiri pick to wager on this one.)

Hellen Obiri (KEN) 6/5
Genzebe Dibaba (ETH) 7/4
Almaz Ayana (ETH) 15/8
Senbere Teferi (ETH) 25/1

Men’s 5000 meters

(Mo’s going to win. What’s the point?)

Mo Farah (GBR) 4/11
Muktar Edris (ETH) 9/2
Yomif Kejelcha (ETH) 7/1
Hagos Gebrhiwet (ETH) 8/1
Paul Chelimo (USA) 20/1

Women’s 10,000 meters

(This is fascinating because Ayana hasn’t raced all year. If she isn’t in form, smart money would be on Dibaba. FYI, Molly Huddle is 100/1.)

Almaz Ayana (ETH) 4/6
Tirunesh Dibaba (ETH) 21/10
Agnes Tirop (KEN) 8/1
Alice Aprot (KEN) 12/1
Irene Cheptai (KEN) 20/1

Men’s 10,000 meters

(Ditto what I said for the men’s 5k.)

Mo Farah (GBR) 4/11
Geoffrey Kamworor (KEN) 4/1
Bedan Karoki (KEN) 8/1
Abadi Hadis (ETH) 10/1
Jemal Mekonnen (ETH) 16/1
Paul Tanui (KEN) 20/1

Women’s marathon

(Looks like the odds-makers got it right. The marathon is so unpredictable that I’d prefer to stay away.)

Edna Kiplagat (KEN) 2/1
Mare Dibaba (ETH) 7/2
Aselefech Mergia (ETH) 5/1
Eunice Jepkirui Kirwa (BRN) 11/2
Berhane Dibaba (ETH) 6/1
Helah Kiprop (KEN) 9/1
Shure Demise (ETH) 10/1

Men’s marathon

(Ditto what I just said for the women’s marathon.)

Daniel Wanjiru (KEN) 7/2
Tamirat Tola (ETH) 7/2
Gideon Kipketer (KEN) 4/1
Stephen Kiprotich (UGA) 9/2
Geoffrey Kirui (KEN) 11/2
Tsegaye Mekonnen (ETH) 7/1
Ghirmay Ghebreslassie (ERI) 10/1

Women’s 100 meter hurdles

(Pearson gave Harrison a run for her money at the London Diamond League. You could do a lot worse than wager a few bucks on the Aussie.)

Kendra Harrison (USA) 1/4
Sally Pearson (AUS) 6/1
Nia Ali (USA) 10/1
Dawn Harper Nelson (USA) 12/1
Danielle Williams (JAM) 14/1
Christina Manning (USA) 16/1

Men’s 110 meter hurdles

(McLeod has been so untouchable that I don’t see how betting on anyone else makes sense.)

Omar McLeod (JAM) 2/5
Aries Merritt (USA) 4/1
Sergey Shubenkov (ANA) 11/2
Orlando Ortega (ESP) 10/1
Ronald Levy (JAM) 20/1
Devon Allen (USA) 25/1

Women’s 400 meter hurdles

(Muhammad had an amazing USA’s but has struggled since, so perhaps Carter and Little would be wise investments.)

Dalilah Muhammad (USA) 4/6
Kori Carter (USA) 3/1
Shamier Little (USA) 4/1
Zuzana Hejnova (CZE) 10/1
Cassandra Tate (USA) 25/1

Men’s 400 meter hurdles

(A wide open event. Close you eyes, point your finger on a random name, and go with that.)

Kerron Clement (USA) 15/8
Kyron McMaster (IVB) 13/5
Karsten Warholm (NOR) 4/1
Kariem Hussein (SUI) 8/1
Yasmani Copello (TUR) 8/1
Eric Futch (USA) 12/1

Women’s 3000 meter steeplechase

(This event hasn’t had a clear favorite all year. Tough to make a call.)

Beatrice Chepkoech (KEN) 11/8
Celliphine Chepteek Chespol (KEN) 11/8
Ruth Jebet (BRN) 7/2
Emma Coburn (USA) 25/1
Sofia Assefa (ETH) 25/1
Purity Cherotich Kirui (KEN) 33/1

Men’s 3000 meter steeplechase

(Just the fact that an American is the overwhelming betting favorite in the steeplechase is amazing.)

Evan Jager (USA) 4/9
Ezekiel Kemboi (KEN) 5/1
Soufiane Elbakkali (MAR) 5/1
Jairus Birech (KEN) 7/1
Brimin Kipruto (KEN) 14/1
Mahiedine Mekhissi (FRA) 14/1

A few select field events:

Women’s long jump

(Outside of Reese’s big world leading jump in Chula Vista (where the wind readings are always weird), Reese and Bartoletta have been pretty even this year. I like Bartoletta’s odds better.)

Brittney Reese (USA) 7/5
Tianna Bartoletta (USA) 2/1
Ivana Spanovic (SRB) 11/4
Christabel Nettey (CAN) 8/1
Claudia Salman (GER) 20/1
Darya Klishina (ANA) 40/1

Women’s triple jump

(Toss up between the two South Americans. Should be a fascinating competition.)

Caterine Ibarguen (COL) 6/5
Yulimar Rojas (VEN) 6/5
Olga Rypakova (KAZ) 4/1

Women’s javelin

(Another field event toss up.)

Barbora Spotakova (CZE) 11/8
Sara Kolak (CRO) 11/8
Tatsiana Khaladovich (BLR) 7/1

Men’s triple jump

(Not really anything worth betting here, but including Christian Taylor in the post for SEO purposes.)

Christian Taylor (USA) 3/10
Will Claye (USA) 5/2
Bin Dong (CHN) 25/1

Men’s pole vault

(Kendricks has been very, very good this year, but the pole vault is often unpredictable in championship settings.)

Sam Kendricks (USA) 5/6
Renaud Lavillenie (FRA) 9/4
Pawel Wojciechowski (POL) 13/2
Piotr Lisek (POL) 11/1
Shawnacy Barber (CAN) 16/1

Men’s shot put

(Crouser has been dominant, but Kovacs has been within striking distance on a few occasions.)

Ryan Crouser (USA) 4/9
Joe Kovacs (USA) 7/2
David Storl (GER) 10/1
Tomas Walsh (NZL) 12/1
Tomas Stanek (CZE) 12/1
Jacko Gill (NZL) 20/1

And finally, prop bets!

Mo Farah:

Farah to win both 5000m and 10000m: even
Farah to win exactly one of 5000m or 10000m: 5/4
Farah to win the 10000m but lose the 5000m: 11/4
Farah to win the 5000m but lose the 10000m: 4/1
Farah to win neither 5000m or 10000m: 5/1
Farah to break a world record in the 5000m or 10000m in the World Championships 2017: 100/1

Usain Bolt:

Bolt to win a medal in the 100m: 1/12
Bolt not to win a medal in the 100m: 5/1
Bolt to break the 100m World Record in the World Championships 2017: 20/1
