Introducing Malcolm’s Choice!

Pets — are they good for more than catching household vermin and giving us allergies?

Well, according to a handful of clickbait articles I got computer viruses from on weather.com, many pseudo-scientists maintain that our pets might just be able to predict volatile weather patterns, too.

That’s sort of neat and might help justify the amount of money/emotional energy people spend on small animals that live in their homes, but is it especially useful or impressive?

Not really.

But what if we could harness the intuitive powers of our pooches and felines and channel it toward something more interesting?

Something like sports, baby. And for the purposes of this article, track & field, in particular.

Animals accurately predicting the outcome of major athletic events have a storied history. There was that octopus that called the results of some soccer games. A mouse nailed the 2016 Olympic overall medal count weeks before the opening ceremonies. And who could forget that famous dog that would vomit whenever a major trade between NBA teams was about to happen?

Well luckily for us, we know a cat that’s savvy to the world of track & field.

Meet Malcolm, a three-year-old bombay who resides in central Indiana, and enjoys being taken for walks on his silly cat leash by his owners, Olympic Trials qualifying steeplechasers Carl Stones and Sarah Pease.

We’re thrilled to welcome Malcolm to the Citius family, and look forward to debuting tomorrow his fearless feline forecasts for select events taking place at this weekend’s USATF Indoor Championships!
