There aren’t as many ‘multi-event only’ training groups in the U.S. as there are distance-focused groups. The Santa Barbara Track Club consists of men and women chasing world-class marks in multiple events. Last summer, Barbara Nwaba qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in the heptathlon and placed 12th in Rio. SBTC will have eight athletes in total competing at this weekend’s USATF Indoor Championships in New Mexico. The athletes are entered in the pentathlon, heptathlon and high jump.

“We are looking forward to opening up the 2017 season with this USA Indoor Championship. It’s always a long year and there are solid bench marks along the way to measure your progress by. This competition will serve as a useful test for the athletes to measure their current progress as we make our way towards the outdoor season and the Summer championship meets,” head coach Josh Priester says.
