Running Documentaries & Videos You Should Watch #2 : 15 hours with Magdalena Lewy-Boulet

By R.J. McNichols

April 20, 2017

Billy Yang is quietly becoming the auteur filmmaker within the trail running scene while also occasionally dipping into the world of runners who have had success on the track/roads (i.e. Ryan Hall, Sara Hall, Kara Goucher, etc).

Many will tell you Yang’s Mont Blanc doc is a must watch (Which I’ll feature later in this series of ongoing posts), but one that gets overlooked is 15 hours with Magdalena Lewy-Boulet.

This short doc is another one from his “Hours with…” series. Lewy-Boulet is an accomplished american distance runner (10K PB: 31:48, Marathon PB: 2:26) but in more recent years has shifted her focus to the trails and ultras.

The doc captures a day in the life with her, paired with an interview of Lewy-Boulet discussing her life as an immigrant and becoming an American citizen on one of the United States’ most heartbreaking days.

Billy Yang tells one of the most unique “American dream” stories in short six minutes.
