Fred Kerley stumbles, mounts a furious comeback, comes up short

That’s right. If you read the title, you know all the dirt here in Albuquerque.

In a two-heat final, Michael Cherry bested his compatriots and came out with the national title. But it was Fred Kerley who got shoved, looked like he quit, decided he was way better than everyone else, unleashed a furious last 200 and ended up losing but it was still super impressive.

Cherry took the win 45.53, which is a personal best for him. He will be headed to Birmingham in the United Kingdom with Aldrich Bailey. Kerley still took third after pretty much stopping in the middle of the race.
