The 2022 World Athletics Championships Oregon22 are finally upon us. Eugene, Oregon will host the first world track and field outdoor championships on U.S. soil from July 15 to 24th.

Eugene, known to many as TrackTown USA, is rich with track and field history as the home to the University of Oregon, the annual Prefontaine Classic and seven editions of the U.S. Olympic Trials. Hayward Field underwent a total renovation for $270 million from 2018 until it re-opened in 2021. The world championships were initially set for 2021 but were pushed back a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics.

This will be the first edition of the World Athletics Championships outdoors since Doha hosted in 2019 and the United States came away with 29 total medals (14 gold, 11 silver and four bronze). USA Track and Field named its 151-person team looking to come away with more hardware on home soil.
