2017 World Championships to be held in Jamaica…sorta

Why travel across the pond to London when you’ll be able to watch some of the world’s best track stars in action in June at the JN Racers Grand Prix in Jamaica on June 10?

Usain Bolt will race in Jamaica one last time on his home soil but will be joined by world record holders David Rudisha and Wayde van Niekerk. Double Olympic champion Mo Farah and Christian Taylor do not own any outdoor world records but they’re invited as well.

We won’t get van Niekerk vs. Bolt over 200 meters. That may never happen and it’s a tragedy. Bolt will close out the meet with the 100 meters and told reporters that he’s targetting a time under 9.8 seconds. Let’s be real though…Bolt hasn’t looked great until late July/early August in the past two years so in a year where he’s making Pokemon commercials, partying it up in Rio for Carnivale and still going out a bit (according to Snapchat), sub-10 and maybe 9.90s is more likely.

The star-studded meet will also feature Yohan Blake, Asafa Powell, Travyon Brommll, Warren Weir, Javier Culson, Hansle Parchment, Tori Bowie, Dalilah Muhammad, Danielle Williams, Jenna Prandini and more.

Jamaican beaches beat the Waterloo sunset so book your flight over to Kingston.
