Olympian David Torrence was found dead at the bottom of a community swimming pool at a condo complex on Monday morning, according to a report by AZfamily.com. He was 31 years old.
Firefighters removed him from the pool and he was pronounced deceased. Detectives said there were not signs of foul play. No further details have been shared but a local medical examiner will investigate his death.
Torrence competed at last summer’s Olympics for Peru in the 5,000 meters and set the national record of 13:23.20 in the final. He still owns the indoor American record in the 1,000 meters.
