2025 Diamond League Schedule: Dates, Host Cities And Diamond Disciplines Per Meet Announced

By Chris Chavez

October 2, 2024

The Diamond League officially announced its 2025 series schedule.

Here’s what you need to know:

– The 2025 Diamond League series will be contested entirely before the 2025 World Championships take place in Tokyo in September. Beginning next season, World Athletics will aim to have each year’s World Championships mark the end of the season. In 2024, there were five Diamond League meets held after the Olympics. In 2023, there were four Diamond League meets held after the World Championships.

– The Diamond League has also announced a slight increase in prize money for 2025. In a press release on Sept. 18th, the series announced $500,000 would be awarded at each meet to bring the total prize money up to between $30,000 and $50,000 at regular season meets. $2.24 million will be awarded at the two-day Diamond League final in Zurich with the total prize money being between $60,000 and $100,000. This all comes on the heels of an increase in prize money offered at next year’s Grand Slam Track events (where Slam winners earn $100,000) and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian’s Athlos meet, which offered more than $600,000 in prize money across six women’s-only races.

– Next year’s Diamond League season will also be the first on FloTrack after NBC did not renew its broadcasting rights. It will now cost fans a $29.99/month or $149.99/year subscription to stream the Diamond League in America. NBC’s Peacock subscription was $5.99/month. (NBC will retain the rights to the Prefontaine Classic.) The reaction to the news of FloSports’ Diamond League rights acquisition was met with overwhelmingly negative criticism from athletes and fans on social media.
