After setting world records in the 1500m and 5000m on the Diamond League circuit, Faith Kipyegon will run the mile at the Monaco Diamond League on July 21.

Here’s what you need to know:

– The women’s 1500m has been replaced with a mile at the Monaco Diamond League. This will be the first time the distance is being contested at Stade Louis II since Sifan Hassan ran 4:12.33 to break Russia’s Svetlana Masterkova 4:12.56 mark that stood since 1996.

– Kipyegon owns a personal best of 4:16.71 from the 2015 Brussels Diamond League meet.

– She has not run the mile since a 4:18.60 at the Oslo Diamond League in June 2016 – just two months before she won her first Olympic gold medal in the 1500m.

– Hellen Obiri holds the Kenyan national record of 4:16.15 from the 2018 London Diamond League.

– Kipyegon is undefeated on the season with victories in Doha (3:58.57 for 1500m), Florence (3:49.11 WR for 1500m) and Paris (14:05.20 WR for 5000m).

– The full field has yet to be announced. Ethiopian 17-year-old Birke Haylom is the current world leader after running 4:17.13 to win the Oslo Diamond League dream mile. She led six women under 4:20 including USA’s Cory McGee (4:18.11) and Nikki Hiltz (4:18.38). For more on that race, read Kyle Merber’s analysis from The Lap Count.
