The Olympic 100m champion and the world 100m champion are set to compete against each other very soon.
Italy's Marcell Jacobs and American Fred Kerley have recently been clashing on social media by teasing a potential one-on-one race. We will see them in a traditional Diamond League race twice in one week with the first showdown coming at the Rabat Diamond League on May 28 and then at the Florence Diamond League on June 2. Both races will be streamed live on NBC's Peacock.
Their last race against each other was the Tokyo Olympic final where Jacobs stunned the world to win in 9.80. Kerley settled for silver in 9.84.
Kerley opened up his Diamond League season with a victory in the 200m in Doha in 19.92. Jacobs has yet to race this outdoor season.
At the Doha Diamond League press conference, Kerley said he would win a potential race between them but added, "If he shows up, I don’t know."
