Kelvin Kiptum To Race 2024 Rotterdam Marathon In April

November 3, 2023

Marathon world record holder Kelvin Kiptum will run the 2024 Rotterdam Marathon on April 14, race organizers announced on Friday.

Here’s what you need to know:

– Kiptum just broke the marathon world record in 2:00:35 at the Chicago Marathon. It was his third career marathon and second Major victory after winning April’s London Marathon in a course record of 2:01:25.

– On Thursday, Kiptum teased the announcement with an Instagram post saying: “Something big is coming up next week. Stay tuned to find out.”

– Kiptum is represented by Marc Corstjens of Golazo Personalities. As noted by LetsRun’s Jonathan Gault on Twitter, Corstjens also serves as the elite field coordinator for Rotterdam.

– The course record in Rotterdam is 2:03:36 by Bashir Abdi in 2021. Abdi also won this year’s race in 2:03:47.

– This likely signals that Kiptum will pass on a chance to defend his London Marathon title on April 21, 2024.
