CITIUS MAG Podcast: Boston Marathon Playlist ft. Molly Huddle, Shalane Flanagan, Dathan Ritzenhein and More

April 3, 2018

We are less than two weeks away from the 2018 Boston Marathon.

The thought crossed my mind on my subway ride this morning that we’ve actually had quite a few of the U.S. stars on the CITIUS MAG Podcast so I figured I’d make a quick post for you all to re-visit some of those episodes.

I’ll be heading up to Boston next Friday with Video Guy Kyle and we’ll be making all sorts of fun content for the site.

Shoot me an email (chris@citiusmag.com) if you’re in the area and would like to meet up! Lots of cool podcasts and videos planned. We’ve been toying with the idea of an impromptu shakeout run or jog so if you’re interested in joining us, hit me up.

We’re open to all sorts of sponsorships on the show. If you’re an advertiser or partner interested we can do all sorts of discount codes, contests or giveaways so shoot me a note.

You can catch the latest episode of the podcast on iTunes so subscribe and leave a five-star review.

We are also now on Stitcher and now Google Play!

Molly Huddle – March 16, 2017

Huddle was among the first few guests to come on the show. When we chatted with her, she was coming off a win at the NYC Half and we looked back at some of her achievements on the track.

Dathan Riztenhein – July 17, 2017

Ritz isn’t finished yet. We discussed his move to the Hanson-Brooks Distance Project with Keith and Kevin Hanson in Michigan. He remains intent on trying to make a fourth U.S. Olympic team in 2020.

Jordan Hasay – October 8, 2017

A conversation pulled from some of the interview for my Sports Illustrated feature on Jordan Hasay ahead of the Chicago Marathon. The interview took place before she became the second-fastest U.S. marathoner of all-time. She delves into the death of her mother and getting her motivation going for her big race.

Scott Smith – October 24, 2017

This is one of the most fun episodes because Scott was totally open about his career and the really difficult marathons that he’s run including a warm 14th place showing at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. He discusses his training that led to a 2:12 personal best at the Frankfurt Marathon. Scott really had fun with the 25 shots from half court question.

Abdi Abdirahman – November 2, 2017

How is he still going at 41 years old? We take a trip down memory lane with Abdi on his long career. His story about the 2000 10,000 meter final is electric. He says that he slowed down in the final lap to watch Paul Tergat and Haile Gebrselassie’s epic finish on the video board.

Shalane Flanagan – November 4, 2017

Released the audio of my SI interview with Shalane BEFORE her win at the New York City Marathon. Hear her discuss what she hoped to accomplish in the remainder of her career, what still surprises her about Jerry Schumacher, training in Mammoth and more.
