4th Times the Charm: After 3 Runner-Up Performances, Ari Marks Finally Gets Her Title

“I will never place limits on myself ever again and say, ’I’m not going to get any better.’ If something isn’t working, I know that there are always things that you can change or tweak to try to improve.”

Fresh off her two national titles, Ari Marks joins us to reflect on her D3 career. While cut short to COVID and a brief stint on the crew team, Ari has no regrets with how her career went. Her passion for running has fueled her career and allowed her to come back better than ever after two small breaks.

After a breakout season in cross country, Ari had to learn how to handle the new runner she became. The indoor track season opened her eyes to her potential as she was runner-up in both the 5k and 3k. She worked with her coaches on her kick and her confidence to ensure she didn’t let another opportunity slip by. Running 80-90 miles a week, she knew her endurance would keep her in the races but felt like she had to kick early to run away from the field. She executed her race plan to a perfection twice and walks away from Gevena, Ohio as a two time champ.
