Houlihan unleashes a monster kick, melts the entire field’s collective face

February 18, 2018

In a case of severe déjà vu, Shelby Houlihan has doubled once again in the 3,000-meter and 1,500-meter at Indoor Nationals. She did the exact same dang thing last year! My guess? She does it again next year. She loves this place!

Her teammate Colleen Quigley snags second for a trip to England… G’day, mate!

More analysis?

Houlihan says that she will just run the 3,000 meters at the world championships, which would mean that Shannon Osika will make her first U.S. national team for a world championships. I believe Osika has the standard from a mile that was run earlier in the season.

The big move in this race was made by Cory McGee with about 400 meters left to go. McGee missed most of last season due to injury so it was bold for her to take that aggressive charge late into the race but she’s definitely shown a return to form during this indoor season. She made the 2013 U.S. national team in the 1,500 meters but this could be a breakout outdoor campaign for her.

Colleen Quigley – 4:13.21
