Donavan Brazier just barely misses Johnny Gray’s indoor American record

By Stephen Kersh

February 18, 2018

Only .10 off the American Indoor 800-meter Record held by Johnny Gray, Donavan Brazier ran 1:45.10 to seal his ticket to Birmingham. It looks like he just barely eased up before the finish line, which is a no-no. ALWAYS RUN THROUGH THE LINE.

Gray still owns the American record and actually has run faster than 1:45.10 twice with another 1:45.08 to his name. Stats!

This race certainly makes Brazier a favorite for gold in the 800 at worlds. Book it.

Drew Windle was very impressive as he rallied back on the last lap to come in second in 1:46.29. He was in LAST at the bell. Talk about wheels!

Check out the results below:

Donavan Brazier – 1:45.10

Drew Windle – 1:46.29

Erik Sowinski – 1:47.02

Sam Ellison – 1:47.29

Quamel Prince – 1:47.63

Harun Abda – 1:47.99
