The 776 Invitational, Alexis Ohanian’s women’s-only track meet taking place in September, has announced a few more details about the upcoming meet.

Here’s what you need to know:

– The initial announcement of the meet was made in late April with 200m Olympic bronze medalist Gabby Thomas and Ohanian in New York City.

– The races that will be contested at the inaugural event will be the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 100 meter hurdles, 800 meters and 1500 meters.

– In April, the prize money for the top three athletes in each respective event was announced. It caught attention as the prize money offered was much better than the Diamond League’s current structure.

The full prize money breakdown and how it compares to the Diamond League is as follows:

  • 1st Place: $60,000 (Diamond League offers $10,000 per meet, $30,000 in the final)
  • 2nd Place: $25,000 (Diamond League offers $6,000 per meet, $12,000 in the final)
  • 3rd Place: $10,000 (Diamond League offers $3,500 per meet, $7,000 in the final)
  • 4th Place: $8,000 (Diamond League offers $2,000 per meet, $4,000 in the final)
  • 5th Place: $5,000 (Diamond League offers $2,000 per meet, $2,500 in the final)
  • 6th Place: $2,500 (Diamond League offers $1,000 per meet, $2,000 in the final)

Note: The Diamond League also pays out $750 for 7th place ($1,500 in the final) and $500 for eighth place ($1,000 in the final). The Diamond League offers up the prize money to men and women competing in 16 of the sport’s primary disciplines, whereas the 776 Invitational has much more compact schedule with six women’s-only events.

– Athletes at the 776 Invitational will also be able to earn a bit more via the meet’s giveback program. Seven Seven Six has implemented a 10% giveback program with Angel City FC, which shares 10% sponsorships and has given away more than $1 million to help serve youth, women and families across Los Angeles. In January, the Los Angeles Golf Club implemented its own 10% commitment from sponsorship revenue to the Maggie Hathaway Golf Course restoration project. The 776 Invitational will pool 10% of all revenues from ticketing, commercial sponsorship and broadcast deals to re-distribute to all participating athletes.

What else we need to know:

– More details are expected to come soon including the meet location, official date and the participating athletes.
