Eugene’s Hayward Field To Host 2025 U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon will host the next U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships. For those keeping score at home, 2025 will be the fifth consecutive year of Eugene-hosted U.S. Outdoor/Olympic Trials.

Here’s what you need to know:

– The 2025 U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held from Thursday, July 31st to Sunday, Aug. 3rd, and will determine the U.S. national team that will go on to compete at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, Japan from Sept. 13th to 25th. In most events, the top three finishers – assuming they possess the World Championships qualifying standard or are within the World Athletics rankings quota – will qualify for the World Championship team.

– Eugene has now hosted the 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials. 2022 U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships, 2022 World Championships, 2023 U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships and 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials.

– It will be another busy summer for Eugene track fans. Hayward Field will also host the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships from June 11th to 14th and the Prefontaine Classic on July 5th.

– Des Moines, Iowa was the last U.S. city outside Oregon to host a U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The 2018 and 2019 editions were both held at Drake Stadium.

Who is guaranteed a spot in Tokyo?

Athletes who won gold at Budapest 2023 are guaranteed spots for 2025 Worlds: Noah Lyles (100m and 200m), Sha’Carri Richardson (100m), Grant Holloway (110m hurdles), Ryan Crouser (shot put), Katie Moon (pole vault), Chase Jackson (shot put) and Laulauga Tausaga (discus) are all granted byes.

The 2025 Diamond League champions can also earn a bye into Worlds.
