Lake Oswego (OR) senior Mia Brahe-Pedersen announced her commitment to USC on Friday morning on her Instagram page.
Here’s what you need to know:
– This summer, Brahe-Pedersen put together one of the best high school seasons in history and ran personal bests of 11.00 for 100m and 22.43 for 200m. She reached the finals of the 100m and 200m at the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
– Brahe-Pedersen signed an NIL deal with Nike in July.
– She was also considering Georgia, LSU, Oregon and Texas in her recruiting process.
Here’s what she wrote on Instagram about the decision:
“I’m beyond grateful to announce my commitment to the University of Southern California to continue my academic and athletic careers for the next four years!!
The decision wasn’t easy, because all the programs I’ve been talking to are incredible, but in the end I’ve never been more sure about anything. I couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity!! Those of y’all who know me personally, know that I’ve had the hardest time keeping this a secret, and that USC has been my dream since I started running track in 6th grade.
Little me would be so proud of myself because I made it happen. But I couldn’t have done it without my support system. My parents and family continue to go out of their way to provide every opportunity for me to succeed. They have only ever wanted to see me happy, and I couldn’t have made it half this far without their unconditional love and support. Thank you to my coaches, John Parks and Hashim Hall who have always believed in me and have developed me into the athlete I am today. Thank you to my teammates and friends who have pushed me to be my best and have shown me nothing but support and encouragement. And of course, thank you to everyone at USC who played a role in my recruitment.
I will forever be an Oregon girl, and I sincerely want to thank everyone who has supported me in ANY way throughout my career so far. Oregon, and specifically Hayward, is a magical place for a track and field athlete. The love for the sport and athletes here is truly unmatched, and whether or not you have played a more active or passive role in supporting me, I could not be more grateful for every one of you. And I hope I’ll get to carry that support with me for the rest of my career, no matter where I go. THANK YOU!!!!!!
My excitement for the future grows daily, but I have some unfinished business to handle during my senior season first. I’m making it count. Fight On! ✌️”
