Race organizers for the 2025 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix have announced the first batch of headliners for the World Indoor Tour meet on Feb. 2nd at The TRACK at New Balance.
Here’s what you need to know:
– Reigning Olympic 100m champion and 200m bronze medalist Noah Lyles will aim for his fourth-consecutive New Balance Indoor Grand Prix title in the 60m. Lyles won last year’s race in 6.44 and then went on to win the U.S. Indoor Championships but lost the World Championship final to Christian Coleman.
– 100m Olympic champion Julien Alfred will make her New Balance Indoor Grand Prix debut. Last year, she went undefeated indoors in all six of her races over 60m. She clocked a world-leading 6.98 to win gold at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow. Her personal best of 6.94 at altitude in March 2023 has her tied for No. 2 on the all-time list. Russian Irina Privalova’s world record of 6.92 has stood since Feb. 1993.
– Widely regarded as the greatest indoor hurdler in history, 60m World champion and 110m hurdles Olympic champion Grant Holloway returns to defend his title in the 60m hurdles for the fourth consecutive year. He has not lost a 60m hurdles race since he was in high school in March 2014.
Also announced:
– 2022 1500m World champion Jake Wightman is slated to run the 1500m. At last year’s meet, he battled Hobbs Kessler to the finish line and finished second in an indoor personal best of 3:34.06. He was selected to Team GB for the Paris Olympics in the 800m but withdrew in the days leading up to the Games due to an injury.
– Parker Valby, the six-time NCAA champion and U.S. Olympian at 10,000m, will make her professional debut for New Balance at the sportswear company’s home track. She will run the 3000m. The last time she raced at The TRACK, she came away with the NCAA 3000m and 5000m titles for Florida. She owns a personal best of 8:41.50 for 3000m.
