200m world champion Noah Lyles will get his shot at 100m Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs when they race the 100m at the Paris Diamond League on June 9.

Jacobs is set to race the 100m against 100m world champion Fred Kerley at the Rabat Diamond League (May 28) and Florence Diamond League (June 2). The races come just a few weeks after the two of them have traded barbs on social media.

Jacobs has a slightly faster personal best of 9.80s from the Tokyo Olympic final than Lyles’ 9.86s from the 2019 Shanghai Diamond League. Lyles has run a season’s best of 9.95s from April’s Tom Jones Invitational in Gainesville, Florida but has also run a wind-aided 9.90s. He spent much of the winter focusing on shorter sprints including a personal best of 6.51s with his victory at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix on Feb. 4.

Jacobs has not competed at a Diamond League meet since the 2021 Monaco Diamond League, where he finished third in 9.99s. Jacobs has never won a Diamond League 100m race.

Lyles was fourth in 10.04s at last year’s Prefontaine Classic. He has not won a Diamond League 100m since the 2019 season when he won the Shanghai and Zurich Diamond League meets before going on to win the 2019 World Championships in the 200m.
