The Diamond League has announced its 2024 series calendar, which will include a record-setting 15 meets on four continents.
Here’s what you need to know:
– The 2024 Diamond League season will open on April 20 in Xiamen, China. Doha has been the series-opening meet for the past two years.
– Chinese conglomerate Wanda Group signed a 10-year title sponsorship with the Diamond League starting in 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions have limited the ability for meets to be hosted in China. This year’s Shanghai Diamond League was slated for July but was canceled due to renovations at Shangai Stadium. The Shenzhen Diamond League was moved from Aug. 3 and made its debut on Sept. 2.
– The Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon will return to May after hosting this year’s Diamond League final. The Diamond League final will now alternate between Brussels and Zurich from 2024 to 2027.
– The Diamond League final returns to Brussels for the first time since 2019.
– 10 of the meets will take place before the Paris Olympics.
