Grand Slam Track has unveiled its events for each day of all four Slams in its inaugural season in 2025.
A refresher for those just catching up on the professional track league’s format:
– 96 athletes (48 Racers and 48 Challengers) will compete twice over three days at each Slam. Racers have been signed by the league to contractually compete at all four Slams. Challengers will be paid appearance fees on a Slam-by-Slam basis and will be determined by season performances and key matchups.
– Athletes will compete in one of the categories to race two events: Short Sprints (100m/200m); Short Hurdles (100m hurdles for women and 110m hurdles for men/100m), Long Sprints (200m/400m), Long Hurdles (400m hurdles/400m), Short Distance (800m/1500m) or Long Distance (3000m/5000m).
– Each athlete will receive points based on their place in each race. Their combined score after the two races will determine their final place in the standings. In the event of a tie after two events, the athlete who had the fastest combined time across the two races will win the tiebreaker.
– The winner of each respective Slam will take home $100,000. The prize money goes all the way down to eighth place earning $10,000 at the end of the weekend.
Some first impressions and observations on the breakdown of the events:
– The Long Distance group racing 3000m & 5000m will always get a day off. No Slam features two 5Ks on the same day.
– Men's 800m/1500m group will go: 1500-800 in Jamaica on Day 2/3; 1500-800 in Miami on Day 1/2; 800-1500 in Philly on Day 1/2; 800-1500 in LA on Day 2/3.
– Women's 800/1500m group will go: 800-1500 in Jamaica on Day1/2; 1500-800 in Miami on Day 2/3; 1500-800 in Philly on Day 2/3; 800-1500 in LA on Day 1/2.
– The 100m/200m group will primarily race 100m and then 200m on back-to-back days at three of the four Slams. In Philly, they'll go 200 on Day 1 and then 100m on Day 3.
– Athletes competing in the hurdles/flat race combos will always hurdle before the flat sprints race. The flat 100m or 400m races featuring hurdle specialists won't be contested on the same day that 100m and 400m specialists take that race on.
As noted by the league, this is not a timetable and order of events for each day. Events are subject to change.
